The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has organized a private farewell cocktail in honour of outgoing Chief Executive of Airteltigo; Mr. Murthy Chaganti on May 27, 2021 in Cantonments, Accra for his outstanding contributions towards Ghana’s telecommunications industry.
The event cocktail was attended by Chief Executive Officers and representatives of the various mobile network operators, tower and infrastructure companies, as well as Bank of Ghana, National Communications Authority and others.
Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey in his opening remarks described Mr. Chaganti as a “pacesetter” and role model. According to him, the outgoing Chief Executive was passionate and dedicated to his work when he was at the helm of Airteltigo.
Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, CEO of MTN in his remarks lauded Murthy for his tremendous work as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chamber especially leading the team to address critical issues which inured to the benefit of the members of the Chamber.
“People can be steadfast about lots of things, but this by itself is not enough. Realism is when someone believes in what they say or act in a way that is consistent with their beliefs. An authentic person is equally able to stand up and say what they truly believe. And that is the characteristics of Mr. Murthy Chaganti.” He remarked.
Mr. Chaganti in his acceptance speech recounted his journey with the Chamber after he took over from Mitwa Ng’ámbi (his predecessor) and his competitors in pursuing policy and regulations that sought to make the industry thrive and to offer world class telecom services to Ghanaians.
CEO of Vodafone, Mrs Patricia Obo- Nai in her remarks also acknowledged the good work Murthy had accomplished with the Chamber and for the entire industry.
Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, Chief Executive officer of the Chamber in his closing remarks admonished the Regulator and all stakeholders present in making time to grace the occasion.
Mr. Chaganti served as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Telecoms Chamber from May 2020 to May 2021.
